You will never need any sort of compression for Blu-ray, poor XBOX 360 will however. With my theatre set up I can play a DVD runnning at 576P and a Blu-ray running at 1080i at the same time. I just switch between the two on the fly. I was playing Underworld:Evolution for a scene for scene comparison. I showed a friend, and he couldn't believe how much clearer it was. He said "it's worth getting just for the Blu-ray!", but then I showed him Motorstorm, and he nearly choked on his bee...

Think about it. What incentive do you have to buy a stand alone HD-DVD unit? The answer is zero. OK, now ask yourself, who has the incentive to buy a stand alone Blu-ray player? The answer is almost zero. Now combine a state of the art gaming machine, with a Blu-ray player, with a Wi-Fi web browser, that has a 60GB hard drive, that is only a fraction of the cost, the PS3. Who wants to buy that! The answer is more people will buy the PS3, therefore more people will have Blu-ray. HD-DVD can't c...

What about Afrika? That could be a wild card up Sony's sleeve. It could be a game the casual gamers might really go nuts over. I don't know much about it yet. It's due out in June isn't it?

Look at the charts. PS3 is selling. 2 million in 4 months. More than XBOX 360 sold in the same period from launch. The PS3 isn't even being sold in Europe yet. 360 fanboys are so blind, any fact just zooms, straight over their heads. It's selling, it has better games(now and later), and it has more functionality than XBOX 360 will ever hope for. Saying 360 lacks the options because they are giving you a choice, is a bad excuse. It's like buying a cream pie without the cream, and being told th...

HD-DVD just can't hope to compete. Like PS2 to DVD, PS3 is the incentive to buy Blu-ray. You just can't beat it, sorry. Oh, unless you want to spend big money on JUST a HD player, DOH!

This is a gaming site.

Over here in Australia, there is a full advertising campaign, saying PS3 IS FULLY BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH ALL PS1 AND PS2 GAMES. I guess we'll see who has the last laugh. Ha! And anyone with half a brain, knows PS3 is the best deal. It's funny, just today, while I was playing Resistance on a store display someone asked me, is there a version of this on XBOX 360. I laughed and said no. But Gears of War has a similar rating. He just said, ohhhh! Like he already played it, DOH!

Only kidding! Only thirty sleepless nights to go. March 23rd. Darn, I just have to say this to "blind from the sun's" comments down below. I care about the numbers because I'm a fan, and I want to see it do well, O.K. Question answered. Cross over now and save some time, oops. Hey, why are you so concerned about the numbers? Oh, that's right you're a confessed Sony hater. Says it all.

I have played Resistance on a PS3 setup at Harvey Norman, and it looks spectacular. The asisstant however told the game was running at 1080P. I since confirmed the game runs only in 720P. To think you can get a game twice as clear as Resistance. Incredible. The TV they had was a 1080P TV.

I come to this site to talk about Playstation with people who love it, and end up defending it somehow. Generally, with someone who is unhappy with their console. I think they are desperately trying to justify their purchase. I know. I should keep the peace, but it's hard.

PS3 fans having a discussion about the PS3, and hardly any XBOX fanboys in sight. Except for tomfoolery and co. who thinks Sony are lying about the figures. The figures don't lie. The PS3 is selling in large numbers. And that's with a supply shortage and higher price. If that doesn't prove brand loyalty is strong, I don't what does. So what if some PS3's are on the shelf for a day. The next day they are gone! The XBOX 360 took 5 months from launch to sell the same numbers, it just doesn't hav...

You can't play it on a regular DVD player! Sheesh.

They're having trouble selling HD-DVD now. And now they're releasing another lower res format that you can only play on a HD-DVD player. How's that going to help?

But it's not a massive lead. The PS3 is also doing fine. The European launch will only help bridge the gap. There's going to be more than 11,000, that is just a rumour. Like every other rumour that's been debunked. And it's not being rushed, this is the biggest launch ever, with 30 titles available. It's going to impress alot of people, here. And let's not forget, Sony are still the leaders in the market.

But they will have sold their shipments. And not brag about how many they shipped like Microsoft.

A leading Australian retailer (Harvey Norman Computers), told me Sony will be filling all preorders. He also said, if you don't preorder don't count on getting one. There are 100 preorders just in my local store. And I know my local EB has 70. I went with Harvey Norman because they gave me $100.00 off and a savings voucher sheet. The sheet gives specials on PS3 games and extras. I talked to a guy in the store who was also preordering a PS3. He just sold his XBOX 360. There's definately a stro...

I can't say I'm that interested in it anyway. Why? 1)There's only so much space in a hard drive 2)I want a hard copy I can put in my collection. 3)You can't buy second hand. 4)Download times.

Did you actually read the article, or just write the first anti-PS3 thought that popped into your head.

Take a proper look at www.vgcharts.org. and do a console comparison. You will see it took the XBOX 360 5 months to sell 1.3 million consoles in America. PS3 has sold 1.16 million in 3 months. So it's actually doing very well in comparison, considering also that PS3 is more expensive. It's funny because the reasons not to buy a PS3 could have also been directed at the XBOX 360 on launch. Not enough games, and glitches are a problem at any launch. If we were to take their advice and wait for ga...
